I’m on your side and we’re doing this together. I’ll create the best possible defense and get you the best possible outcome.
How do I achieve that? Through understanding the situation from your point of view. Through learning your story. Through looking at your history. And through deciding on the best possible defense strategy, based on my extensive experience helping other people in similar situations.
I’ve dedicated 20 years to helping people like you.
Admittedly, my first “brush” with the law happened long before I became a defense attorney. During my freshman year at college, I was falsely accused of arson – which involved undergoing a four-hour police interrogation and multiple attempts to make me “confess to the crime” or face jail time.
After experiencing the helplessness and terror of being accused of a crime, I also became more curious about the law in general – so interned for a criminal defense attorney in Queens. I sat in on client meetings, learned their stories and heard their fears about how the case would affect them, their family and possibly their employment. I got to know these clients as people, and I came to appreciate that they shouldn’t be defined by a single action for the rest of their lives.
After these experiences, I knew. I knew I wanted to truly help people when they were in trouble. I wanted to stand by clients and put forward the best possible case for them. I wanted to understand the situation from their point of view. I wanted to be their ally when they felt afraid, confused and intimidated.
I used to be a prosecutor.
I always knew I wanted to work as a defense attorney, but after law school I thought it’d be useful to get inside the heads of the “other side” – so I went to work as an assistant district attorney in Nassau County.
While there, I was able to see what factors they considered when offering a plea offer, and why they might agree to do something out of the ordinary on a particular case. I also prepared police officers to testify at trial – the same police officers I’d be cross-examining just a few years later. I also learned how much power the prosecutors office had and the unjust consequences that could result through exercise of that power. I gained invaluable insights at the DA’s office, which I still put to good use today.
All my experiences are dedicated to helping YOU.
The different roles I have had in criminal law over the years have all led to the start of my practice as a criminal defense attorney an 1998. Other law practices try to combine many different “specialties” under one roof: they may call themselves a “family law attorney” or a “civil litigation attorney,” but they’re also a “criminal law attorney” in case anyone turns up on their doorstep needing representation. I am a criminal defense attorney. I represent people who get in trouble with the police or at their school. These firms don’t have anywhere near the experience or the determination to do your case justice. I do.
I want you to move forward with your life as quickly as possible.
That’s why I do this – that’s the passion. And that’s why, for the past 20 years, I’ve worked with integrity and honesty to defend clients in state and federal prosecutions throughout Long Island and New York City.
I know how we’re going to handle this, and I’ll give it to you straight.
I’ll tell you exactly what I’m thinking, exactly what I’m going to do for you, exactly what outcome I think I can achieve, and exactly what happens next.
Rest assured: I’ll work relentlessly to get the best possible result for you. I’ll scour through evidence, unearth new information, and gather together witnesses. I’ll make the judge and the prosecutor see you as a person – a neighbor, a member of the community – rather than “the defendant.”
We have a good, decent justice system in this country – but it’s a system that relies on more than just “the facts.” To provide the best kind of justice, our system also needs competent advocates to put the best case forward.
