In a college’s attempt to treat an accused student as “innocent until proven guilty” the school will treat the accused student respectfully. They will ask if the student needs accommodations or mental health treatment. This gives the student a false sense of security and they sometimes feel that the process is so relaxed that they can’t imagine the worst happening.
